Dana Shuqom on Mentoring for Young Women in Jordan

The Middle East Youth Initiative recently spoke to Dana Shuqom, Project Leader of the “Woman-to-Woman Mentoring and Capacity Building Project” for young female orphans in Jordan.

Source: Dana Shuqom, World Bank Global Youth Conference, October 2008.Shuqom shared some of the motivations behind the project, which placed young female graduates of orphan care centers in internships at organizations or departments managed by female executives.

The project was implemented in 2008 by Al-Aman Fund with a seed grant from the World Bank’s “Youth Innovation Fund.” Shuqom, a young entrepreneur, led the project and now serves as Executive Director of Business and Professional Women-Amman (BPW-A). Shuqom also spoke about some of her upcoming projects with BPW-A to enhance the employability of Jordanian women.
