Ragui Assaad on Egypt’s Housing Markets

In an interview with the Middle East Youth Initiative, Dr. Ragui Assaad discusses the housing markets in Egypt. These segments cover prospects for Egypt's mortgage market and Dr. Assaad's recent research for the Middle East Youth Initiative on Egypt's "new rent" law and its impact on the age at marriage of young men.

Dr. Assaad has served as the Regional Director for West Asia and North Africa at the Population Council and is currently a Professor of Planning and Public Affairs at the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota.

Assaad is the co-author of “Youth Exclusion in Egypt: In Search of ‘Second Chances” (Middle East Youth Initiative Working Paper, 2007) and has most recently co-authored Did Housing Policy Reforms Curb the Delay in Marriage Among Young Men in Egypt? (Middle East Youth Initiative Policy Outlook, 2008).
