Global Interdependence Youth Summit

Global Interdependence Youth Summit

CivWorld’s inaugural Global Interdependence Youth Summit will explore the solutions to important worldwide challenges, from the impact of global warming to best practices in conflict prevention. Young people from across the world will be meeting for a series of workshops and youth-led discussions as well as participating in the larger Interdependence Day celebration and forum with some of the world’s greatest scholars, political and civic leaders, policy makers, artists, musicians and thinkers. This summit will address issues of interdependence that really matter to young people and will emphasize the importance of youth empowerment, participation, and creativity with an objective to chart the ways to turn awareness into accomplishment, vision into action, and learning into leadership - towards making a real difference.

The key principles guiding this event are:

  • Promoting interactive participation and empowerment of young people on local and global levels,
  • Enhancing creativity and providing inspiration for participants to be agents of change; promotion of civic engagement and civil society
  • Fostering a greater sense of international unity and responsibility
  • Providing unique opportunities for young people to share their views with a wide variety of international leaders, policy figures and academics
  • Creating a safe environment for individual development to increase self-confidence, improve social skills and networking, and gain valuable knowledge and experience
  • Facilitating intercultural dialogue and understanding' promoting respect for diversity and tolerance for all nationalities, races, religions, and genders
  • Building a global youth network of support and partnership between participants
  • Initiating the design and implementation of long-term and ongoing projects between participants, including planning for the 2nd and 3rd annual Global Interdependence Youth Summits, to be held in Istanbul and Berlin respectively
