Ehaab Abdou Speaks at Harvard on His Experience as a Social Entrepreneur
On November 30, MEYI advisor Ehaab Abdou spoke to an audience at Harvard University's Dubai Initiative, a joint venture between the Dubai School of Government and Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, about his experience as a leading social innovator in the Middle East as well as his new research with the Middle East Youth Initiative.
Ehaab was introduced by Dubai Initiative research fellow, Ayman Ismail, who is also co-founder and board member of Nahdet El Mahrousa. Ashraf Hegazy, executive director of the Dubai Initiative, gave welcoming remarks.
Ehaab spoke in depth about his own career as a social entrepreneur in Egypt. He discussed his role in establishing Fat'het Kheir, an organization that was designed to facilitate income generation for residents of the Moqattam plateau in Cairo. Ehaab also shared with the audience background on his musical group, Ana Masry, which promotes tolerance and diversity in Egypt, and discussed the founding of Nahdet El Mahrousa, the first social enterprise incubator in Egypt.
