Call for Papers on Youth and Migration for LAS Youth Forum 2009

The League of Arab States (LAS) Population Policy and Migration Department has announced research awards for papers dealing with issues of youth and migration in preparation for the LAS Youth Forum, to be held in Asilah, Morocco in November 2009.

The Youth Forum is organized by the LAS Population Policy and Migration Department, Council of Europe, and European Youth Forum, in collaboration with related Moroccan bodies and several international and regional organizations.

Parallel working groups during the forum will address the following issues:

1. Migration: Concepts, Causes and Consequences
2. Irregular / Illegal Migration Migration of skilled youth including students
3. Youth Migration and Regional integration (Euro-Arab) Youth Migration
4. Cultural Exchange and Dialogue

Applicants should consider the Forum theme and the topics that will be discussed by the working groups when writing the paper. Special consideration will be given to papers that address irregular migration issue and papers supported by interviews and field surveys. Abstracts should be submitted by email to youth@poplas.org by July 15, 2009.
