Call for Papers on Youth and Migration for LAS Youth Forum 2009

The League of Arab States (LAS) Population Policy and Migration Department has announced research awards for papers dealing with issues of youth and migration in preparation for the LAS Youth Forum, to be held in Asilah, Morocco in November 2009.

Missed by the Boom, Hurt by the Bust: Making Markets Work for Young People in the Middle East

In its latest report, the Middle East Youth Initiative cautions that a new jobs crisis may damage future prospects for the region's young people. James D. Wolfensohn, former president of the World Bank and founder of the Wolfensohn Center for Development at Brookings, says: “The Middle East is facing a new economic reality, and young people risk bearing the brunt of this downturn.”
